This whole portfolio thing started on July 25, 2007, while I was on a vacation in Latvia and I was looking over all of my documents on my laptop. I realized that I have to (finally) organize all the arts and sketches and fashion designs in one place, since I am not into the whole thing of the arts being scattered all over my desktop, document folders etc. etc. So, I have decided to get to work on that :)

After several hours, I had a basic layout out and links all figured out, therefore I asked lovely Silversun for hosting and she kindly agreed. After a few minutes, I had the basics all uploaded and the rest followed the week after.

Then Silver's server went down and I was portfolio - less for a while. But then she was awesome enough to recommend me to Skye, who hosted me :)

And now here I am - a proud hostee of Skye and still a loyal follower of Silver (sounds creepy ;_;)

Anyway - that is how yumi:beautiful was born.

He hee. I am not sure why people are actually interested in this, really. Is this actually that interesting? Well, since you are here reading this, I assume it is. And since you are an important visitor to me, I will tell you my story. Or at least the story of the name for this portfolio.

According to Name Meanings, Yumi means beautiful. Yumi is not my real name (OMG!SCANDAL!GASP!), but a nickname given to me a couple of years ago by a glorious friend of mine. At first, he was the only person who actually called me that, but as I entered college, people found my real name too complicated to spell (excuse me?) and too long (one letter and one syllable longer than Yumi -_-), therefore I just started using Yumi day in and out. And it stuck. Now, even though I love my actual name, I answer to Yumi more, since more people know me as such. Oh well. If you do know my real name, though, you are welcome to call me that - I will always answer to both :)

And now that we found out what Yumi means, it is probably obvious why the title of the site is yumi:beautiful. It is my website. About me. And my art. Art is beautiful, therefore it deserves to be called beautiful, am I right? So is my nickname :3
